News & Return to Khao Yai

We have some news for those people who have not yet heard it: we are expecting our first baby for early March next year!

We went back to the Khao Yai region during a weekend in September. As regular readers know, we had already been there earlier this year. We went with Tarn (colleague of Nirmala) and her fiancé. This was also an opportunity for Tom to test his (basic) golf skills as there was a golf course right next to the hotel. The game started at 8 in the morning to benefit from the cooler temperatures. 5 hours and 25 lost balls later, it was over. On the way back, we stopped over at the "Chockchai Farm", a huge farm complex with great steaks and burgers.

Ayutthaya (bis) & Lopburi

Another weekend, another escape from the city. We went to Ayutthaya for the second time, but this time in the first place to relax and spend some time in the Thai country side. The hotel we had booked was built in the style of an ancient Thai village and was situated in the middle of nowhere, near a river and fields. It was just outside the ancient capital Ayutthaya (see older posts). As we had already seen the major sites in Ayutthaya, we decided to drive further north to the ancient town of Lopburi (formerly known as Lavo), one of the oldest cities in Thailand. Today, it is famous for a number of impressive monuments and a population of monkeys occupying some of these monuments and running amok in the city. In Ayutthaya, we also stopped at the ruins of a temple where there is a gigantic and impressive statue of the Reclining Buddha.
